Responses to online arcticles

I found it really interesting in "Rise of the Plagiosphere" that the internet has become so developed that it can trace back to anything that has ever been put on it. The fact that teachers now can trace plagerism is very neat to me and I am glad there is finally a way for it to be detected. Plagerism is something that occurs more than some may think, and the use of technology these days should have a way to detect this illegal behavior. Without the use of spiders, this action could not be made possible. Technology, especially the internet, continues to develop and the use of it becomes more important each and every day. In "The Ectasy of Influence" the writer mentions that themes are often reused throughout the years. The reoccuring themes and words used by different authors, directors, and artisits, today is considered plagerism. Even modern television shows esentially plagerize from older stories. Can this be stopped? With the modern internet use and other technological sources we use today, I believe plagerism can be and is starting to become, more seriously looked at. Although, as seen in these articles, plagerism occurs out in the open a lot more than we notice, I believe ideas will become more original, with the fact that plagerism is taken a lot more seriously with the further advancements of our technology.

  1. I agree that it is important for teachers to trace and stop plagiarism when dealing with student. In reference to the second part of the response; why would you want to stop the plagiarism most of our music, television, movies, and books and evolved from? Is it naive to think that ideas will become more original if they most ideas from the past aren't?
