Multimedia Author
A multimedia author is someone who creates their own piece of work using some sort of technology/computer. The ideas can come with help from other people or simply on your own. It can vary any where form music to video clips to a blog. I consider us all multimedia authors because we are writing on our own on the internet and creating our own pieces of work with the help of the internet and other computer programs. As Lessig states, "Radio, however, soon faced its own competition from a new form of broadcast—television. The cycle then continued." Competition increases more and more each and everyday as the inventions of newer technology are created. What seems to have been an increase of authors (from simple pencil and paper writing to multimedia writing) caues much competition.

Catherine: I like the way that your definition allows the ideas to come from the person or from elsewhere, or in collaboration. So, a broad definition, with some emphasis on the action or intention of the writer. You conclude by emphasizing competetion - both between media and between authors. Remember that Lessig is focused on preserving the incentives to compete - he thinks we need to fix copyright to make it worth our while to keep creating things.
